Jill Lanese brings an unusual combination of analytical discipline, creative thinking, long-term research experience, and determination to Bogart’s Legacy. Her background taught her to question surface explanations, look for patterns, test assumptions, and continue working a problem until it makes sense.
That same mindset now shapes the organization. Bogart’s Legacy is being built to do more than preserve one dog’s story. Its purpose is to organize research, identify gaps, develop meaningful owner education, and pursue reforms that can withstand serious scrutiny.
Jill’s role is not simply that of founder. She sets the intellectual and strategic direction of the organization — deciding which questions deserve deeper investigation, how the work should be structured, and where research, education, and advocacy can have the greatest practical value.
As the organization grows, outside expertise, collaborators, advisers, and professional review will become increasingly important. The aim is not to build a corporate institution, but a serious, human-centered organization with a clear purpose and the discipline to pursue it well.
